Latest Cabaret at Theatre Features Classic Country Music

La Mirada~La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts & Upright Cabaret are thrilled to announce the performers for its fourth show of their season, COWBOYS & ANGELS-starring Tony Award-nominee and T.V. star VALARIE PETTIFORD (Film: "Jumping The Broom," TV: UPN's "Half & Half," "Criminal Minds," Broadway: Fosse, Chicago), KARISSA NOEL and DANIEL TATAR (Life Could Be A Dream, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). 

They will be performing the music of Patsy Cline, Garth Brooks and Loretta Lynn, with such memorable songs as "Crazy," "I Fall To Pieces," "Friends In Low Places," "If Tomorrow Never Comes," "Coal Miner's Daughter," and more - as well as their own selections, under the musical direction of Gerald Sternbach, in a one night only concert - COWBOYS AND ANGELS which will perform on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 7:30PM at the NEW Cabaret Lounge at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada.

Marvelous Musical Marks Memories

Award-Winning “Jack and the Beanstalk” at Theatre Sunday

La Mirada~La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts presents the award-winning Storybook Theatre's Jack and the Beanstalk.  Performances are Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. 

Storybook Theatre's Jack and the Beanstalk is an interactive, musical version of the centuries-old fairy tale. A rapping giant, a talking goose and chases up and down the beanstalk await the adventurous hero, Jack, in this fun-filled telling of a favorite children's tale. 

There are plenty of songs and audience participation to delight the whole family as members of the audience help to hide Jack from the giant. The play features book and lyrics by Lloyd J. Schwartz, who also directs, and music by Ben Lanzarone. The cast includes Melanie Wahla, Caitlin Gallogly, Jason Galloway, Adam Conger, Barbara Mallory Schwartz and Stephen Reynolds.

National Theatre Live’s Season Continues at LM Theatre With “King Lear”

La Mirada~La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the fifth production of National Theatre Live's second season - broadcast live from The Donmar Warehouse in London, internationally acclaimed actor Derek Jacobi stars as King Lear, being broadcast on Sunday February 20th at 2 p.m. at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The hugely acclaimed performance will be seen in cinemas and performing arts venues around the world when the Donmar Warehouse's sell-out production, directed by Michael Grandage, is filmed live at the Donmar's home in London's Covent Garden.

Programs for Young Audiences Continues At LM Theatre

La Mirada~JazzReach presents Hangin' With The Giants featuring Metta Quintet and special guests, as part of the Programs for Young Audiences series at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Hangin' With The Giants is a live multi-media performance aimed at introducing jazz music to children in an entertaining and interactive way.

The show is recommended for children in grades K-4.  Performances are Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. 

Hangin' With The Giants is a fun, high-energy program designed to promote the inclusiveness and accessibility of jazz while highlighting the legacies and music of some of the art form's central contributors. Staged as a late night talk show, Hangin' With The Giants features animated likenesses of jazz greats, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk as show guests and offers numerous opportunities for students to interact and participate. Curriculum connections include Social Studies, U.S. History, African American History and Arts Education.

Third Installment of McCoy-Rigby Series Now Playing at LM Theatre

La Mirada~La Mirada Theatre for the Performing arts & McCoy/Rigby Entertainment present the third production of their 2010-2011 season of shows – the heavenly, ‘Til Death Do Us Part: Late Nite Catechism 3', starring everyone’s favorite Sister – Maripat Donovan, written by Maripat Donovan with Marc Silvia and directed by Marc Silvia.
