While pre-show mingling, I found myself astonished to see the legendary Cathy Rigby (Executive Producer of McCoy Rigby Entertainment Series) to be there for this opening night since it was thought she was finishing up with the audition process of her upcoming production of "Peter Pan". I was fortunate enough to have a couple minutes with her and get her thoughts on producing this show, "my husband (Tom McCoy) is also  executive producer...and along with my husband we select the artistic designers, choreographers, directors...fortunately we have people we trust so whether I'm on the road or here, its still happens, and the show goes on."

"Peter Pan" will be back to the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in June 2012, part of the recently announced 2011-12 series, and will star Ms. Rigby herself.  It is obvious to see that the McCoy Rigby Entertainment Series never fails and has produced another entertaining masterpiece.

This quirky show not only was a blast-from-the-past for the audience, but the actresses' as well. It brought them back memories-not of the era the show is based on itself- but of their past roles. They are "old pros" as Brian Kite (Producing Artistic Director), would call them, having performed each other's roles numerous of times. Leslie Spencer, who played Cindy Lou Huffington confessed to me after the show "I've actually played three of the four roles so I'm always thinking, who am I? Sometimes I have to look down on the color of my dress and be like Oh! I'm the pink girl...the dynamic between the girls is always a lot of fun...I am overjoyed that I get to do what I love to do-which is performing..."

"The Marvelous Wonderettes" will run for three weeks through Sunday, June 19. The tickets range from $35-$50 and can be purchased at La Mirada Theatre's website. Regardless your age this show definitely transports you to the class of 1958 Springfield high school senior prom and will have you dancing the "mash potato" in your seat. GO CHIPMUNKS!
