Deputies arrested a man earlier this week who they say is responsible for at least six armed robberies at Walgreens pharmacies in La Mirada, West Covina, Baldwin Park, Monterey Park, San Dimas and Corona last month.

Deputies arrested the 29-year-old suspect Tuesday while carrying out a search warrant at his Moreno Valley home, according to Sgt. C. Hinojosa of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's La Mirada Special Assignment Officers team.

The La Mirada SAO team spearheaded the investigation, along with deputies from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau, officials said. Detectives managed to track the suspect down after receiving information about the getaway car used in the crimes.

The string of robberies began on March 3 when the suspect brandished a handgun at a Walgreens store at 13806 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada and demanded cash, Hinojosa said.

Roughly an hour later, the same suspect showed up at another Walgreens location in West Covina and carried out a robbery while carrying a large knife, the sergeant said.

Over the following three weeks, the series of robberies grew to include at least three more in Los Angeles County and at least one in Riverside County, he said. Detectives were continuing to investigate the suspect in connection with additional robberies.

The suspect's identity was not available Saturday as the investigation continued, Hinojosa added.
