Mayfair 42 Cerritos 21: The Dons still have the streak going, and they are really getting tired of the streak, as it is still lingering over their head. The Monsoons, who got beat up on during their pre-league schedule, finally got to be the bully as they beat up on the Dons. They had a few missed opportunities to increase their lead, as they dropped several TD passes. The Monsoons look to have their ground game on track. Junior QB Evan Hunko, when given time, he is lethally accurate throwing the ball. It could be seen the Monsoons however, do not have a go-to receiver. Also, Coach Mike Fitch reached his 200 victory after beating Cerritos.

Villa Park 28 Artesia 6: The Pioneers who had their head coach fired last week, and are still struggling on offense, still cannot get on track, as they sputtered against a more physical Villa Park team. The Spartans of Villa Park dominated the Pioneers defense with their running attack. The lone score on the evening for the Pioneers came on a 40-yard catch from WR Earnest Randall.

Week 5 Preview

Bellflower @ Artesia: The Buccaneers are heading into a game that they should be able to win, but after the way they have played this year, it’s not a certainty. They will go to Artesia to square off with the winless Pioneers. This is going to be a good game; someone will finally get a win; and someone will be on their way to a winless season. I look for QB Anthony Johnson to have his biggest game of the season to date and lead the Pioneers to their first victory of the season at home. This is my toss-up game, because as strongly as I feel that Artesia will win this game, it can go either way.

Cerritos vs. La Mirada: The Dons, who are searching for their first win, will definitely not get it this week, when they play the Matadores. They are going to be overmatched. The one bright spot all season for the Dons has been TB Aaron Francis; and now Sophomore WR Marquis Moss has shown he can be a big play threat. The Matadores will be anxious to start off 2-0 and really show that they can be a force to be reckoned with in the Suburban League. I look for QB Daniel Poncedeleon to come out and throw all over the Dons secondary.

Mayfair vs. John Glenn: The Eagles who found themselves with a shot to beat La Mirada, and let it slip away, hopefully will have learned their lesson as they face the defending league champions. The Eagles offense should be able to move the ball against the Monsoons. The key for the Eagles is for their defense to be able to pressure QB Evan Hunko, and contain TB Dominique Small, and TB Keith Harvey. I think the Eagles play hard, and they beat the Monsoons for the first time this decade.

Final Thoughts: This is it we have been waiting for, as the league teams have either been playing tough pre-league schedules or soft ones. The contenders are present and we now know who the pretenders are. This will be a good week for league, I feel an upset coming, but I won't predict it, because I don't know which game it will come in. I wish you all much success; and stay injury free.
