Coroner: La Mirada woman died from stab wounds; ruled a homicide

La Mirada~A woman found dead in her La Mirada home last week died as the result of a stabbing and her death has been ruled a homicide, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez, 49, was pronounced dead on the morning of June 4 at a home in the 13300 block of Marlette Drive, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s officials.

Rodriguez died as a result of “multiple sharp force injuries” shortly after officials responded to the house at 9:11 a.m., coroner’s records show.

She first bought the home in 2019, according to public records.

According to neighbors and public records, Rodriguez lived with a teenage son who graduated high school last month. No information regarding the status of the teen was available.

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau were handling the case. The assigned investigators could not be reached for comment. No further details were released.

No media alert was issued by the sheriff’s department notifying the public of the homicide investigation, in contrast with normal sheriff’s department practices.
