If students do well at the state competition and advance, they will enter the SkillsUSA Championships, featuring the best career and technical students in the nation. The multi-million dollar event occupies a space equivalent to 16 football fields and features about 6,000 participants competing in nearly 100 separate events. This year, nationals will be held in Kansas City, Mo., at the end of June.

“The District prides itself on offering programs and Career Pathways that will give students the resources to obtain a head-start on the careers of their choosing,” said NLMUSD Superintendent Dr. Ruth Pérez. “SkillsUSA is not just a competition, but a validation of all of their hard work and talent.”

“As evidenced by all the different categories in which our students excelled at the SkillsUSA regional competition, the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District offers a substantial number of opportunities for students to test their mettle,” said NLMUSD Board of Education President Margarita Rios.
