City proclaims April 28 as Arbor Day

The Arbor Day Foundation named the City of La Mirada 2022 Tree City USA for its commitment to effective urban forest management. This is the 29 th time the City is
being recognized for this achievement.

The City achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s requirements of having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

In 2022, the City had planted 207 trees around the community. Trees are vital to improving air quality, water resources, personal health and well-being, and energy use.
They also enhance the appearance of our parks and neighborhoods.

With the Tree City USA recognition, La Mirada has demonstrated a commitment to effective urban forest management and doing its part to help address these challenges
for residents now and in the future.

The City of La Mirada proclaimed April 28, 2023 as Arbor Day in the City, and urges all residents to support efforts to care for the trees and support the City’s community
forestry program. For more information on the program, visit arborday.org/TreeCityUSA.
