Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in a commercial neighborhood in La Mirada on Wednesday night.

The shooting was first reported about 9:15 p.m. in the 13900 block of Rosecrans Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said in a written statement.
Authorities said the victim, initially described only as a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.

Sheriff's officials asked the public to avoid the area at this time.
