The City continues to encourage community participation in the Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, and HAM Watch programs. In 2009, the City implemented the Volunteers on Patrol program, where trained volunteers serve as an extra set of eyes and ears for the Public Safety Team. Interested residents can also receive crime and safety information via email by signing up for La Mirada E-Watch at

“Through these community programs, residents learn how to observe and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods”, says Assistant to the City Manager Anne Haraksin. “Their efforts have helped to further deter crime in La Mirada.”

Over the next year, the City will continue its proactive approach to address criminal activity in the community.  The Public Safety team is dedicated to keeping La Mirada safe and maintaining a low crime rate.
