Sarega maintains narrow lead in La Mirada City Council race as counting winds down

The two leaders in the race for La Mirada City Council District 2 remained separated by only four votes Friday, with only one week of ballot counting remaining.

Incumbent Andrew Sarega had received the most tallied votes at 570, or 34.36%, according to data released Friday by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's Office.

Chris Pflanzer had received 566 votes, amounting to 34.12%.

A third candidate, David Constantine, had garnered 523 ballots, or 31.53%.

County officials plan to release the next update to election data on Tuesday, and another update may be issued on July 1, if tabulation has not been completed by then.

Sarega leads Planzer by 4 votes in La Mirada City Council race as counting continues

The contest for La Mirada's District 2 City Council seat remained neck-and-neck on Tuesday, with incumbent Andrew Sarega retaking a four-vote lead of Challenger Chris Pflanzer in the latest ballot tally from the election held two weeks ago.

Sarega registered 569 votes, amounting to 34.38%, according to the latest Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder data published on Tuesday afternoon.

Planzer, who briefly took a two-vote lead following Friday's data release, had garnered 565 votes, or 34.14%.

David Constantine had received 521 votes, or 31.48%.

It remained unclear how many ballots were yet to be tabulated. County officials previously said counting may continue through July 1, if need be.

The next release of election data is expected on Friday.

Pflanzer takes lead in La Mirada District 2 city council race

Challenger Chris Pflanzer took a narrow lead over incumbent Andrew Sarega Friday in the La Mirada District 2 City Council race afternoon following the latest release of ballot data from the June 7 election.

Pflanzer had tallied 560 votes, or 34.42%, narrowly snatching the lead from Sarega, who received 558 votes, or 34.40%, according to the Los Angeles County Recorder's office. Sarega had maintained a small lead in prior vote tallies.

David Constantine had received 509 votes, amounting to 31.28%.

It remained unclear how many ballots were still to be counted. Election officials said the counting could potentially continue through July 1, if needed.

The next release of tabulated ballots is scheduled for this Tuesday June 21 followed by two additional on June 24 and 28. A release is scheduled for July 1, but only if needed according to the canvass schedule below. 

UPDATE: 6/14/22 4:25 p.m.

Incumbent Andrew Sarega increased his lead by 12 votes, now leading challenger Chris Pflanzer by 36 following the latest release of data by county election officials on Tuesday afternoon.

Sarega with his 460 votes has captured 36.19% of the vote, Pflanzer has 424 votes or 33.36% and Dave Constantine has received 387 votes or 30.45%.

Although Sarega has distanced himself slightly from the other two candidates, one week after the election, it is still unclear who the winner will be or how many ballots remain. 

The next release of tabulated ballots is scheduled for Friday.

The two top candidates vying for La Mirada's District 2 City Council seat in Tuesday's election were separated by 21 votes following the latest release of data by county election officials on Friday afternoon.

Incumbent Andrew Sarega maintained his lead with 382 votes, amounting to 36.04%, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder's Office.

Chris Pflanzer had received 361 votes, or 34.06%.

David Constantine had tallied 317 votes, or 29.91% of counted ballots.

It was not clear how many ballots were still to be counted. Election officials said the counting could potentially continue through the end of the month, if needed.

The contest for La Mirada's District 2 City Council seat remained too close to call as tabulation continued into the early-morning hours on Wednesday, with incumbent Andrew Sarega followed by challenger Chris Plfanzer by only 24 votes.

Sarega led the race with 296 votes as of 2:07 a.m., amounting to 35.97% of recorded ballots, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar.

Planzer trailed close behind with 272 votes, or 33.05% of tallied ballots. The third candidate for the seat, David Constantine, had garnered 255 votes, or 30.98%.

It was not clear how many ballots were yet to be counted. Election officials said the counting could potentially continue through July 1.

The contest for La Mirada's District 2 City Council seat remained too close to call as tabulation continued into the early-morning hours on Wednesday, with incumbent Andrew Sarega followed by challenger Chris Plfanzer by only 23 votes.

Sarega led the race with 295 votes asoof 12:22 a.m., amounting to 35.93% of recorded ballots, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar.

Planzer trailed close behind with 272 votes, or 33.13% of tallied ballots. The third candidate for the seat, David Constantine, had garnered 254 votes, or 31.94%.

It was not clear how many ballots were yet to be counted.
