The "Avenue of the Presidents" was one of many special activities held by the City of La Mirada in 1976 to celebrate the American Revolution Bicentennial.  Ceremonies at City Hall featured officials dressed in colonial attire.  La Mirada schools participated in Bicentennial projects and programs.  Cub Scouts painted the City's fire hydrants in patriotic colors.  The La Mirada Symphony gave a concert featuring patriotic music and a Band Review parade marched down Rosecrans Ave.  In addition, Winston Churchill, grandson of the former British Prime Minister and a Member of Parliament, spoke to youth at La Mirada Stadium and encouraged them to preserve freedom.
