Mayfair 27 Bellflower 17: The Buccaneers walked in Ron Yary Stadium not as the home team, but as the visitors; and it was Mayfair's homecoming. Maybe the Monsoons were a little distracted; with it being a rivalry game or maybe they got caught looking ahead to their matchup this week against La Mirada. Whatever the case, the Monsoons got lucky they didn't get beat. They gave the Buccaneers too many chances to keep themselves in the game. With the score 20-17, the Buccaneers found themselves with an opportunity to tie the game or take the lead, instead they fumbled. The Buccaneers got a great effort from TB Benny Perez as he accounted for two rushing TD's.

Week 7 Preview:

Mayfair vs. La Mirada: This is looked at as a game that could have the winner take a step closer to the league championship, and the loser trying to fight to stay in the pecking order for the playoffs. This is a bitter rivalry; and it will be a good one, with the Monsoons running attack trying to eat up the clock and keep the lethally accurate QB Daniel Poncedeleon and his high-powered offense off the field. I look for this to be the league championship game as these two look like the teams to beat in the Suburban league.

Mayfair 21 La Mirada 20

John Glenn vs. Artesia: The Eagles have played the top three teams in the league and have shown that they can battle, but they can not overlook the Pioneers, who are still a fast football team. The Pioneers are also hungry for their first win of the season. The Eagles showed last week that they can play with anyone, as they went toe to toe with the number one ranked team in the Southern Division. I look for the Pioneers to play tough and the Eagles to struggle early, but bounce back and win their first game in league. Look for TB/MLB Niua Niumataevalu to meet head-to-head a few times with Pioneer MLB TJ Taimutuia. This is going to be a good game with a lot of points being scored.

Norwalk vs. Cerritos: The Dons, coming off their first victory of the season, will be playing host to the undefeated Lancers. The Dons will try and play spoiler as they look to use a combination of speed from TB Aaron Francis, TB Derek Jones, QB Brenton Hill, QB/WR Marquis Moss to stretch the Lancers defense and exploit their lack of a pass defense the way that the Eagles did the week before. I look for the Dons to shock everyone and beat the Lancers.

Final Thoughts: We are in the stretch of league play that leaves us with only a few weeks left. The Monsoons and Matadores will be playing for the league championship. The Lancers looked vulnerable to the pass and seemed to be exhausted in the second half of their game last week. They still have to get through the Monsoons and Matadores. The Eagles look to be the fourth playoff team, but they have to run the table and win out. The last time they did that they made the playoffs in 2002. I wish you all much success; and stay injury free.
