Multiple utility relocations are ongoing throughout the construction site. There will be intermittent lane reductions on both N. Firestone Boulevard and S. Firestone Boulevard. Work will be performed Monday through Friday.

A portion of S. Firestone Boulevard at Coyote Creek channel is now closed for utility relocation for a period of four to six months. Work will be conducted weekdays between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Businesses along Firestone Boulevard will remain open and detour signs will be posted. For detour information visit the project Google map.

Prescription Drug Scams

The Internet makes purchasing prescriptions easy and convenient.  Deals and discounts are advertised, which makes online shopping very appealing.

The La Mirada Public Safety Team is warning residents to be aware of Internet retailers and criminals who take advantage of unsuspecting consumers by promising benefits and cures for medical conditions that have not been scientifically tested or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

“With some online prescription orders, money is paid for a product, but the item is never delivered,” says Public Safety Specialist Jennifer Anderson.

“In other instances, counterfeit drugs that can potentially present serious and possibly life-threatening risks are delivered in place of the purchased prescription.”

Public Safety Specialist Anderson offers the following tips to prevent prescription drug scams:

  • Discuss online prescription plans with your physician.
  • Be wary of any website that offers a prescription by simply completing an online questionnaire.
  • Purchase prescriptions from online pharmacies approved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) or contact the NABP on its website at nabp.pharmacy/about/contact/.
  • If you send money and don’t receive a prescription in return, contact the La Mirada Community Sheriff’s Station at (562) 902-2960.
