"La Mirada's workforce tends to have higher levels of education than the County average," says Assistant to the City Manager Jeff Boynton.  "Some 52 percent of adults over 25 years of age have a Bachelors Degree or at least some college. Another 8 percent have earned a Masters, Professional or Doctorate Degree."

La Mirada is home to several major employers that require higher education levels and advanced technical skills.   Additionally, Biola University, a nationally ranked evangelical Christian university, is located in La Mirada and is among the city's top employers.
