The Curse of the Raven returns for a fourth year with opening night on October 21st inspired by La Mirada residents Robert and Kristy, both former Knott's Halloween Haunt employees.

The home haunt will be open nightly 7:00-10:00 p.m. through Halloween Night with scare actors on Saturdays, located at 4682 Stanton Avenue in La Mirada.

Please respect the neighborhood by being courteous including any unnecessary or excessive noise.

Unity and Hope: La Mirada Prayer Vigil for Israel

During times of adversity and hardship, the community of La Mirada demonstrates an exceptional ability to unite in support of those in need.

This solidarity was evident Sunday as families, individuals, and community members gathered in front of La Mirada City Hall, a symbol of local governance and unity, for a prayer vigil organized by Temple Beth Ohr/La Mirada to show support for Israel.

The day brought about one hundred individuals together from various backgrounds and faiths, all joined in expressing their shared hopes for peace in the tumultuous region of the Middle East. (more)

The Community Spotlight Award recognizes exceptional members or organizations of the community who, through their actions, reflect positively on themselves and the City.

On August 3rd, resident and Community Gymnasium member Crisanto De Leon suffered a cardiac emergency and collapsed to the floor. Paul Castillo, Tech Enciso, Manny Peña, and Adam Quinones quickly rushed to aid Mr. De Leon while others called 911 for emergency assistance. (more)

Man goes missing from convalescent hospital in La Mirada

Deputies asked the public to keep an eye out for a man with medical issues who went missing from a convalescent hospital in La Mirada on Friday night.
Von Earlsal Cowan, 60, was last seen about 7:30 p.m. when he walked away from a facility in the 12200 block of La Mirada Boulevard, just north of Imperial Highway, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said in a written statement. (more)

In-N-Out co-founder makes largest donation in history of Biola University

Unspecified amount from the burger giant will help fund a $92 million 52,100-square-foot film school studio facility

La Mirada~Biola University will name its top-ranked film school the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts in tribute to Esther L. Snyder, co-founder of In-N-Out Burger after the unanimous decision by the Biola Board of Trustees was made to honor the Snyder family for a significant financial gift committed to the school as well as their legacy of godly virtues.

"Our family values the distinctly Christian education Biola University offers and are honored to play a part in continuing to offer students opportunities to make really impactful film pieces that change people's lives," said Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson, granddaughter of Esther L. Snyder and current owner and president of In-N-Out Burger. "God is a huge part of the In-N-Out story, and I have no doubt my grandmother would be grateful to know her name is associated with a school recognized for excellence in craft and character." (more)

Poster contest winners recognized and other news

Poster contest winners recognized at city hall

Winners of the City of La Mirada’s annual “Love a Tree” Poster Contest were recently announced and the winners were recognized at last night's city council meeting. 

Posters were judged for creativity and originality by the La Mirada Senior Council and the Community Services Commission. More than 500 elementary through high school students from La Mirada submitted posters recognizing the importance of planting trees in the community. (more)
