La Mirada, coupled with their victory, also received help fom Manhattan Beach's Mira Costa, when they beat Cypress, to set up a Mat's home contest Friday

Rialto~The La Mirada High School baseball team beat Rialto today 2-1 , winning their thirteenth straight and 20 of their last 21; advancing to the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs.

The game was a quick-paced good old fashioned pitching duel, with a stiff breeze benefiting both hurlers; however Daniel Poncedeleon came out on top, dishing out a complete game 6-hitter.

With Mira Costa winning at Cypress-in an upset-8-3, this sets up a home game for the Matadores (22-8) this Friday against the Mustangs (17-14)  who now come in with their own five-game winning streak. If Cypress would have have won, the Matadores (the only Suburban League team remaining),  would have had to travel there for the next game, already losing the coin-flip earlier.

But, they didn't win so, game time is 3:15 this Friday at La Mirada High School.
