La Mirada Theatre Presents O Sole Trio: From Pavarotti to Pop E-mail

La Mirada~Commissioned by New York City’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, O Sole Trio presents: “From Pavarotti to Pop: How Italy and Italian-Americans influenced American Popular Music.” The show will take place at 8:00PM on Wednesday, February 13th at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. , 14900 La Mirada Boulevard La Mirada, CA 90638. Tickets are modestly priced at $20.

With sold out performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, New York City’s renowned musical ensemble O Sole Trio will be bringing their exhilarating and unique show, which captures the essence of Italy, and features a program that showcases a cornucopia of beloved Italian opera arias, popular Neapolitan songs, as well as jazz and pop standards made popular by such singers as Enrico Caruso, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Connie Francis, and Andrea Bocelli, to name but a few.

The trio is comprised of the lush voices of soprano, Erin Shields, and baritone, Giuseppe Spoletini, as well as the virtuosic David Shenton on piano and violin.

Their program, performed in both Italian and English, combines touching and informative storytelling with an eclectic mix of timeless songs, breathing new life into classics such as “O Sole Mio,” Puccini’s “O mio babbino caro,” “Mambo Italiano,” and “The Prayer,” made famous by Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli.Also not to be missed is David Shenton’s virtuosic instrumental ‘Theme and Variations’ of the Neapolitan song “Torna a Surriento,” played simultaneously on both violin and piano.
